St. Francis Healthcare presented Fire Chief Anthony S. Goode and officers from Wilmington Firefighter’s Local 1590 with a check for $85,000 at its 47th Annual Colleague Appreciation Dinner.
Proceeds will aid the families of fallen firefighters Captain Christopher Leach and Lieutenant Jerry Fickes, and the families of Senior Firefighter Ardythe Hope and Firefighter Brad Speakman.
“The situations first responders encounter on a daily basis are often hard to imagine – and to compound that with the loss of two brothers – it is inconceivable,” said Brian E. Dietz, CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare. “After speaking with several EMS team members that Saturday, it was clear to me that we needed to support the families of the firefighters in addition to our own EMS team. We are one big family.”
Saint Francis matched donations dollar-for-dollar, up to the $37,500 mark.
