Noreen LaSorsa has been approved by the Christina Board of Education as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Christina School District, effective August 11.
The position has been vacant since the retirement of Fara Zimmerman in August 2015. LaSorsa has most recently served as Principal of Christiana High School since 2013. Sam Postlethwait, currently assistant principal of Christiana High School, has been appointed acting principal of Christiana High School for the 2016-2017 school year.
LaSorsa has a total of 25 years of experience with the Christina School District, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and academic change leader.
She served twice as principal of Christiana High School, from 2006-2010, and from 2013-2016. She also served as assistant principal at Newark High School, assistant principal at Kirk Middle School, and assistant principal at Drew-Pyle Intermediate School.
She began her career in Christina as a health and physical education teacher at Drew-Pyle Intermediate School, where she taught for 10 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 1994 and 1998.
In August 2012, she was named academic change leader, a position tasked with implementing the District’s Partnership Zone and Focus School plans. In August 2010, she was named to a position with the Delaware Department of Education in the role of Chief Officer of the School Turnaround Unit, where she managed the selection and support of Partnership Zone schools at the state level.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University in health and physical education, and a master’s degree in education and administration from Wilmington University.
