Vice Chancellor Donald J. Parsons plans to step down from the court when his term expires in October 2015.

Persons said that while he loves the Court of Chancery, he believes it is the right time in his life to make some changes.

“For 12 years, I had the great privilege and honor of serving to the best of my ability both the citizens of the state and a large number of Delaware business entitites. In the future, I hope to find ways to continue serving our community and promoting the fair, impartial and efficient administration of justice,” he wrote.

Parsons has not announced his specific plans after he retires from Chancery, America’s top state business court. Chancery Court also handles other civil matters, such as guardianships.
