The Council of Civic Organizations of Brandywine Hundred will hold a public meeting featuring a presentation by representatives from Wilmington University.
The meeting will be held on January 22 at 7 p.m. at the Talleyville Fire Hall.
Wilmington University’s plans to build a standalone campus at the corner of Routes 202 and 92, across from Concord Mall.
This meeting, arranged for by CCOBH, will provide information to residents regarding Wilmington University’s current design ideas and concepts in the development of its new Brandywine campus and to solicit community input on its plans.
University President Dr. Jack Varsalona will offer comments and the university’s professional team, including those with knowledge of current engineering, building and landscaping plans, will explain the current plans the university has for the site.
The project has already drawn fire from activists at Save Our Valley, a group that is fighting plans by Woodlawn Trustees, a Wilmington-based group that wants to develop a tract in neighboring Pennsylvania.
As is typical in the area, objections have centered around traffic and to some extent open space.
Suggestions have also been made for alternate locations for the campus of the fast-growing university, including the area of the now-closed Evraz Claymont Steel and the City of Wilmington.
