Delaware Electric Cooperative is reporting that a bogus electric supplier is making calls to members. Social media posts from the cooperative indicating the name of the company is believed to be Startel, with callers promising lower rates.
The cooperative noted the company is not listed as a supplier by the Delaware Public Service Commission and does not have a website.
The cooperative says members should not give out any information to the callers. Delaware electric services portions of Kent and Sussex counties.
Under Delaware electric deregulation, customers can choose suppliers in some cases. However, suppliers have to be approved by the PSC. Customers of municipal utilities do not have that option.
