Renovations have begun at Hercules Plaza to transform its atrium into a gallery featuring dining, a fitness center and an incubator for businesses.
The project is scheduled for completion in January 2013 at the landmark office building in downtown Wilmington, Del.
A restaurant, l for business lunches and dinners, will anchor the gallery area. The restaurant’s features will include a tree-shaded outdoor plaza with its own bar and water feature, as well as two private dining rooms available for meetings. Other features of the gallery will include a fully equipped health and fitness center, a New York-style café and lounge, and the new McConnell Johnson Innovation Center, a business incubator focused on mobile, finance, media and international connections. Innovation Center members will receive administrative support and access to technology for their businesses.
“These renovations are the first phase of a comprehensive effort to create a dynamic and environmentally friendly community that will enable Hercules Plaza’s current and future tenants to work comfortably in a building equipped with the latest in technology,” said Paul McConnell, a partner in McConnell Johnson Real Estate.

Current Hercules Plaza tenants include: Condé Nast Publications, Ashland Inc. (the company that purchased Hercules) and Potter Anderson and Corroon.
