From starting a restaurant to a part-time “gig” business, if you have questions on how to launch your business, the Small Business Development Center is hosting a free, workshop. “Whether you’re interested in learning how to form your business, or whether you need financing,” said David Root, Director of the SBDC office in Georgetown, “This workshop will provide answers to your questions.”

The three-hour program is intended to help participants decide whether they are conceptually, physically and financially ready to start a business.  Workshop topics will include:

  • Considering whether you have the support;
  • Risks involved in starting a business;
  • Types of business formation;
  • Licenses, legal and accounting;
  • How to develop a business plan;
  • Creating a business timeline; and
  • What additional business resources are available.

“We want to meet and work with entrepreneurs before they open their doors,” Mr. Root said.  “Over the past 35 years, the SBDC has assisted hundreds of businesses in Delaware, and we believe we can guide start-ups in the right direction before critical missteps occur.”
