The Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia has announced a way for Delaware College of Art and Design students to complete their two-year degrees.

The two-year college announced that it would close after over a quarter century in downtown Wilmington, citing declining enrollment, a smaller pool of college-age people, and problems with the federal student loan application (FAFSA).

Moore President Cathy Young said the college’s community was “saddened to hear about Delaware College of Art and Design’s difficult decision to close its doors. To support the students impacted by this decision, we have partnered with DCAD to create a seamless path for current DCAD students to join us at Moore College of Art & Design, the first and only historically women’s college for art and design, now welcoming non-binary and gender non-conforming students.”

Young continued, “It’s an honor and a privilege for us to be one of only two institutions selected as teach-out partners for DCAD, and we are eager to support these talented students. We pride ourselves on our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, robust career readiness, and an inclusive and equitable campus community, paired with a strong financial position that allows us to provide the resources our students need to succeed. We look forward to working closely with DCAD’s administration to ensure a smooth transition for students who wish to continue their art and design education at Moore.”
