The ongoing construction on Interstate 95 at Rute 896 will require closing of I-95 95 at Route 896, northbound only, from Tuesday night through Thursday.
Girders are being installed for the new 896 interchange.
Traffic from I-95 will be detoured through Newark during the closure. Very heavy traffic is expected on Elkton Road, Christina Parkway and South College Avenue, Route 896, during the closures. Police officers will be stationed along the detour route to help with traffic.
The following is the closure schedule, which is weather dependent (times subject to change):
- Tuesday April 9: 9 p.m. – 7 a.m.
- Wednesday April 10: 11 p.m. – 5 a.m.
- Thursday April 11: 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
