Nemours Children’s Health, has agreed to an affiliation with Delaware County, PA neighbor Crozer Health.

This affiliation marks a step forward in advancing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and pediatric cardiology services for young patients, including newborns requiring specialized care and children with cardiac conditions.

This new affiliation will provide patients with access to Nemours’ services, while also embedding Nemours’ pediatric cardiology services within the Crozer Health network.

In addition, Nemours now employs former Crozer Primary Care pediatricians and will give Crozer patients access to its network of primary care locations. Nearby patients will also continue to have access to Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children’s specialty care clinics in the Delaware Valley.

“As a nationally recognized leader in pediatric care, we are proud to partner with Crozer Health to enhance their NICU and cardiology services. We are excited about the possibilities that this presents for the children and families of Delaware County,” said Mark R. Marcantano, regional president, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley. “Together, we can achieve even greater milestones in pediatric healthcare.”

Nemours operates a large children’s health system with a network of practices and hospitals in Florida and northern Delaware.

Crozier has been deainwith financial issues under its for-profit owner Prospect Medical Holdings. Merger talks with Delaware-based Christiana care were called off over issues that included converting the health care system to nonprofit status.

The Children’s Health service is under the umbrella of the Nemours Foundation, established in Florida through the philanthropy of Alfred I. duPont, provides pediatric clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and prevention programs to the children, families and communities in Florida and the Delaware Valley. Nemours Children’s Care derives most of its revenue through patient services, although the foundation does make an annual contribution.
