The Delaware Department of Labor is conducting its Annual Prevailing Wage Survey for state-funded construction projects.

On December 20, the Department mailed over 4,500 survey forms to contractors and various interested parties. The completed survey forms must be postmarked or returned to the Department of Labor no later than February 8, 2024, for the data to be used in the calculation of the Delaware Prevailing Wage Rates.

On or before March 15, 2024, the Department publishes an annual “Prevailing Wage Determination” which will be valid for one year. For copies of survey instructions and forms, use the following links:

The Department is also encouraging contractors to report the information electronically. Click on the his link for instructions. https://ollea.delawareworks.com

The prevailing wage has been controversial over the years, with merit shop (non-union) contractors claiming the wage figures are skewed toward union shops, thereby boosting the cost of construction projects.

According to merit shops, greater participation by all contractors would more accurately reflect the market rate for wages.
