A New Jersey trampoline/amusement center is coming to the former Kmart site off Route 40 in Bear.

A coming soon sign for Fun City Adventure Park was recently added.

Fun City operates a site in Blackwood, NJ, with another in the works in Millville, NJ, about an hour’s drive from Bear.

According to a past release, the company currently operates 20 locations in seven states from Maine to New Jersey, with 13 additional sites under construction or with signed leases — in New York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas, as well as Delaware. One location slated to be the site of Fun City is in Millville, NJ, about an hour’s drive from Bear.

Fun City locations feature trampoline courts, a Ninja course, a ropes course, a zipline, dodgeball, basketball, a playground, a battle beam, a foam pit, bumper ball, bumper cars, and an arcade.

It enters a crowded market with the upscale Main Event in the nearby Christiana area, along with two nearby trampoline parks. The indoor sites are a popular location for increasingly lavish birthday parties and other events.

To the north, big box giant Dick’s Sporting Goods is bringing in an expanded store, Dick’s House of Sports, Delaware Online reported. The concept expands the sporting goods store into adjacent space that will include batting cages, putting greens, a rock climbing wall and other features.

Work has been underway on the Fun City site, with dumpsters in place and heating-air conditioner units added to the rooftop.

Bear may have been the last former Kmart site, which was not occupied or under development.

The Bear Kmsrt space had been rumored to be the site of a Tractor Supply store, although its format might have required the space to be divided. That approach filled up a former Kmart on Coastal Highway near Rehoboth with retail tenants.
