Delmarva Power received a No. 1 ranking for residential electric satisfaction in the East Midsize Region according to the J.D. Power 2023 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. It’s the second consecutive year and the third time in five years that the company has achieved the top ranking. Coming in second was Delmarva’s sister company, Atlantic City Electric.

Delmarva Power’s system serves much of Delaware as well as Maryland’s Eastern and Upper Shore.

Delmarva Power ranked highest among 11 comparable electric utilities in the East Midsize Region with a score of 736, on a 1,000-point scale. Delmarva Power also ranked highest overall in all six factors that are considered for scoring – billing and payment, communications, corporate citizenship, customer care, power quality and reliability and price.

“We are extremely proud of our commitment to provide the safe, reliable and affordable service that our customers deserve every single day,” said Tyler Anthony, CEO of Pepco Holdings, parent company of utilities that include Delmarva Power. “To sustain the level of this recognition that we have achieved over the last few years is no small feat and demonstrates all of the hard work our employees take on to exceed customer expectations.” Pepco, in turn, is owned by utility giant Exelon.

Delmarva Power cited the following accomplishments:

  • Leveraging tools to help customers manage their energy use, like high usage alerts, regular energy reports, and tools and energy efficiency programs to help customers save money and energy.
  • Expanding support for diversity-certified suppliers by purchasing $140 million in goods and services, which accounted for 40 percent of the company’s total yearly purchases in 2022.
  • Supporting customers experiencing challenges paying their energy bill by connecting them with energy assistance and offering payment plans and programs aimed at helping to keep every customer connected.
  • Providing approximately $1.2 million annually to area nonprofits, while employees volunteered more than 14,700 hours at 183 different events and organizations throughout Delaware and Maryland in 2022.

Delmarva Power’s sister utilities have also recently received awards, including Atlantic City Electric for the 2023 Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study in the East Midsize Segment, which is their second consecutive award in the category.
