Delaware’s job market is holding steady, with the unemployment rate remaining unchanged at 4.2%. Although the gap between Delaware’s jobless rate and the national figure widened slightly, it’s interesting that the state’s total nonfarm jobs increased by 1.9% since November 2022, slightly higher than the national increase of 1.8%.

The state Labor Department’s monthly commentary points out a positive trend in the workforce participation rate, noting it’s at its highest since 2022. However, it’s interesting to find out that Delaware’s rate is slightly lower than the national average, possibly linked to factors like inflationary pressures, the end of Covid-19 benefits, and a higher percentage of older residents in the state.

These unemployment figures might undergo revisions as more accurate data replaces the estimates used in monthly reports, usually in the early months of 2024.
