Fire causes $1 million in damage to Port Deposit restaurant

A fire at a Cecil County restaurant on Sunday morning caused $1 million in damage.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal said the fire broke out in the kitchen at Jumbo Jimmy’s at Fort Deposit.

Eighty Perryville firefighters battled the blaze for two hours. Smoke alarms and sprinklers were in operation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fort Deposit is at the mouth of the Susquehanna River is about 23 miles west of Newark.
