Buy, Buy Baby is poised to reopen a location in the Christiana area.

CNBC reports that the new owners of the chain plan to reopen 11 locations in the Northeast, including a store in the Christiana Town Center, anchored by Boscov’s.

According to the report, Buy, Buy Baby also has a favorable lease at the Delaware center that totals about $100,000 a year.

Buy Buy Baby fell victim to the bankruptcy filing and closing of Bed, Bath and Beyond, its parent company. However, the specialty store did not have as many bad locations and merchandising problems as its parent.

The Christiana Town Center Bed, Bath and Beyond remains closed amid speculation that the brand might come back in some form in a brick and mortar stores or if other big box retailers snap up prime locations.

Due to the lack of a sales tax, Delaware remains an attractive market for retailers, especially around Christiana Mall, an area that includes the town center.

Bloomingdale’s opens store

The New York City retailer Bloomingdale’s has opened an outlet store in the Christiana Fashion Center.

The outlet is next to the popular Trader Joe’s grocery store at the lifestyle center next to the mall. The Trader Joe’s and Bloomingdale’s spaces were once the site of a Sak’s outlet store.

Bloomingdale’s, which is owned by Macy’s, has 18 outlet stores and joins the Nordstrom’s Rack store at the Fashion Center.

Macy’s kept the Bloomingdale’s brand when it acquired Federated Department Stores while jettisoning others such as Strawbridge’s and Hecht’s.
