While the average charge for regular gas is $3.16 a gallon, some outlets in Middletown have dropped prices below the $3 mark.
AAA’s gas price finder reported the sub-$3-a-gallon prices at a Citgo and an unbranded station in Middletown, and a Liberty station in Wilmington.
AAA reported a three-cent drop in the average gas price on Tuesday, with the price of the pump now 14 cents below the figure from a year ago.
At the same time, motorists remember when the price per gallon briefly dropped to the $2 a gallon mark at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

Crude oil is now trading at $77 as worries persist about a recession on a day when the Federal Reserve raised interest rates in its inflation-fighting effort. The worry is that interest rate hikes and weakness in China’s economy will trigger a recession.
