Delaware gas prices dropped a dozen cents a gallon during the past week, with the First State seeing among the largest price decreases among the 50 states.

The price for regular in Delaware neared the national average after remaining above that figure for weeks.

The East Coast has seen tight supplies of crude oil.

“While the national average has barely budged, there are now about 13 states with some stations selling gas below $3 a gallon,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “More gas stations could follow, which may be a big help with road trip budgeting as Thanksgiving approaches.”

Crude oil prices have dropped below $90 a barrel, with an $86 a barrel price reported on Wednesday afternoon.

AAA’s Fuel Finder reported the state’s lowest gas price at a Liberty station on Fourth Street in Wilmington at $3.58. The station has bucked the trend of gas prices often being higher in urban areas.

Lower prices were also available at membership clubs, such as Costco and BJ’s. The clubs charge around $60 a year for memberships.
