Several days of soaking rain in Delaware this month led to the end of dry conditions in Delaware.

The federal government’s drought monitor map showed no dry conditions in the First State.

As recently as late September, conditions in the state ranged from abnormally dry to moderate drought. The driest conditions were in portions of Sussex County.

Farmers reported the lack of widespread soaking rain until October as scattered storms moved through the area in the summer. That led to a patchwork of fields with enough rain and others missing storms.  The result will be low corn yields from some fields.

Some areas in northern New Jersey could use some rain, although the National Weather Service Mount Holy, NJ noted that the current  map did not include recent rainfall
