The Delaware Department of Transportation reported paving, and striping work on Interstate 95 through Wilmington has been completed ahead of schedule with the route opening on Monday, a day ahead of schedule.

The work took place between Exit 8/ US 202 interchange and the 2nd Street on-ramp.
The reopening comes as major roadwork comes to an end on the project on an aging stretch of the interstate with deteriorating viaducts.
The project has succeeded smoothly but has seen accidents usually related to speeding, tailgating, or inattentive driving in the construction zone. Delaware legislators passed a bill that authorizes speed cameras and fines on the stretch of I-95 through the city.
