KemperSports selected to manage White Clay Country Club

 KemperSports was selected to manage White Clay Creek Country Club, on the grounds of the Casino at Delaware Park in Stanton-Christiana, east of Newark.

White Clay Creek becomes the first course under KemperSports management in the state of Delaware. Kemper is based near Chicago and has been picking management deals in the region.

The public White Clay Creek Country Club opened in 2005 and is positioned around the racetrack and stables of Delaware Park. The course was designed by architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest.

The 7,007-yard, par 72 layout features five sets of tees For the last three years, White Clay Creek has ranked No. 4 on the GolfPass annual Golfers’ Choice list of best courses in Delaware, a release stated.

“White Clay Creek has long been a favorite among locals in the region,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We’re excited to bring our experience in public golf and understanding of what players and guests want to improve the overall experience, enhance the food and beverage offerings and take the club to the next level.”

The facility also includes a 40,000-square-foot clubhouse, 12-acre outdoor practice facility and indoor golf academy, fully equipped pro shop, banquet facilities, and the At The Rail Wine Bar & Grille.

The Rickman family, which owned Delaware Park, recently sold the locals casino and thoroughbred track to Canadian investors but retained the golf course. The area has seen the loss of golf courses over the years, including nearby Cavaliers, which is being converted to a housing development despite protests from neighbors.

Golf, like many outdoor activities, has seen a resurgence during the Covid-19 pandemic.
