Covid hospitalizations fall to 81 in Sunday report

After rising to 759 in January, Covid-19 hospitalizations fell to 81 in the Sunday report from the Delaware Division of Public Health.

The surge led to Gov. John Carney temporarily ordering that masks be worn in indoor public spaces, citing near-crisis conditions in hospitals.

The other numbers as of Saturday night:

  • No deaths reported, keeping Delaware’s toll at 2,709, equivalent to the population of Selbyville in Sussex County.
  • – 106 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 256,551. The cumulative breakdown by county: New Castle, 145,301 cases; Kent, 49,606; Sussex, 60,724; county not yet known, 920.
  • – 4.4% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average, down two-tenths of a percent from the previous day.
  • – 81 current hospitalizations, down 22 from the previous day, including 10 individuals in critical condition.
  • – 2 new hospital admissions, unchanged from the previous day.
  • – 3,362 tests performed daily in the seven-day average, down 161 from the previous day.
  • – 657,871 people fully vaccinated, total not yet updated on the CDC Vaccine Tracke.
  • – 1,731,951 total vaccine doses, total not yet updated on the CDC Vaccine Tracker.
