President Joe Biden is back in Delaware tonight after a couple of weekends away from the state.

The president and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden arrived at New Castle Airport early Friday night.

Flight restrictions are in place into Sunday.

On Saturday, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris participated in a call with their national security team to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine and Russia’s attack.

Over the weekend, NATO members and other nations added further sanctions that included barring Russia from the SWIFT financial transactions system and Germany announcing plans to step up defense spending.

Biden remained at the White House last weekend as war clouds were gathering around Ukraine.

Reports indicated that Biden would spend President’s Day in Delaware. However, the trip was abruptly canceled.

This week, Russian forces launched a full invasion of the nation, with the goal of capturing major cities. Hundreds if not thousands of military and civilian casualties have been reported, with Ukrainian forces holding their ground for now.

The administration had been predicted a full invasion based on troop movements.

Before leaving the White House Biden added sanctions against Russian strongman Vladamir Putin.

Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden typically spend a couple of weekends a month at their home near Greenville.

The weekend visits typically fill hotel rooms on the Wilmington Riverfront as staffers, media, and others accompany the president.
