Covid dashboard – 5 new deaths as number of positive tests continues to drop

Five  new deaths from Covid-19 complications were reported by the Delaware Division of Public Health.

Two individuals from New Castle County, two from Kent County and one from Sussex County ranged in age  from their 60s to their 100s, and two were residents of long-term care facilities.
 
Their deaths increased Delaware’s total number of COVID-related deaths to 1,135.
 
In what is probably a reflection of the bad weather early in the week, the number of new positive cases was 242, bringing the total to  79,225. 
 
The percentage of people testing positive was 20.8 under a seven-day rolling average (down one-tenth of a percent from the previous day) with 7 percent of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average (unchanged from the previous day).
 
Hospitalizations fell to 315, down 17 from the previous day, including 39 individuals in critical condition. Hospital admissions were 31, down five  from the previous day.
 
Areas with the highest rates of Covid-19 cases in Delaware include Laurel, Selbyville, Georgetown, Felton, and Camden-Wyoming. Community spread is present in all areas of the state
