The newly opened Hope Center at the former Sheraton South Hotel, New Castle, is not taking housing referrals at present.
New Castle County recently purchased the hotel for $19.5 million with CARES Act funds. In addition to emergency housing services, services for the homeless will be offered.
Housing Alliance Delaware Executive Director Rachel Stucker said the Hope Center is working to take referrals after quickly moving into action.
The Housing Alliance reported “the Hope Center has accommodated 90 people in the first two days of opening – “each of whom was experiencing unsheltered homelessness in the county.”
