Bayhealth has reported more than 1,000 drive-thru COViD-19 (coronavirus) tests in its service  area that includes Kent and northern Sussex County.

As of April 7, Bayhealth’s Coronavirus Management Team  received 3,476 calls and tested 1,014 community members.

The system’s hotline is staffed by physicians, nurses and advanced practice providers. Patients who meet screening criteria for COVID-19 testing are referred to one of Bayhealth’s drive-thru testing sites.

Kent County, the state’s most lightly populated county, has seen fewer cases than New Castle or Sussex.

However, expanded testing is a way to determine the prevalence and community spread disease that can come with mild symptoms.

So far, testing is limited to those with symptoms or possible exposure to an individual with COVID-19.

Patients experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath may call 302-310-8477 or email Coronavirus@Bayhealth.org.

The phone line is open Monday – Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It is strongly recommended that you do not go to your doctor’s office or emergency department without calling first, since many can isolate at home without being evaluated in person. As always, if you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
