The Biden Welcome Center on Interstate 95 near Newark will reopen as truckers continue to struggle with an increased number of closed rest stops, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced.
Effective Wednesday, March 25 at 6 a.m., the center will reopen to the public in with limited services. The center had shut down March 17, in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The facility’s operator, HMS Host, has offered to reopen the welcome center to help a trucking community that is delivering needed supplies and materials. HMS operates the center under a long-term lease that led to the center being rebuilt.
The services that will be available are:
- Burger King from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Take out only)
- Z-Mart will be open 24 hours (Take out only)
- Starbucks from 6 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Drive-thru only)
- Public Restrooms (inside Welcome Center open 24 hours)
- Fuel purchases available 24 hours
