Wohlsen construction manager for $100 million Datwyler project in Middletown

Wohlsen Construction Company  served as the design-builder and teamed with Becker Morgan, Concord Engineering, and Genesis Engineering respectively for structural, MEP, and clean room design services for the new Datywyler Seailng Solutions site in Middletown.

Datwyler recently  marked the ribbon cutting for their new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Dätwyler, a 100-year-old Swiss-based company, will produce rubber closures for pharmaceutical businesses, such as caps, stoppers, and syringes in their new $100 million facility.

Datwyler hopes to have the 193,000 – square-foot process facility and a 30,000 – square-foot office and lab fully operational by the end of the year. The site is expected to employ 120

The new facility contains custom process equipment that was developed and manufactured specifically for installation in the Middletown plant.

The proprietary layout incorporates Good and Lean Manufacturing Practices to facilitate the effective production of Datwyler’s  specialty rubber closures.

Located on the facility’s main floor are equipment, storage, and manufacturing spaces. Second-story mezzanines are suspended above, providing separate visitor and clean/technician corridors that overlook the process facility’s main floor. The north-west side of the building features the three-story office and laboratory to support the process facility.
