New Castle store cited for selling single and untaxed cigarettes

The Delaware  Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement cited a New Castle store for violations of laws on single and untaxed cigarettes.

(DATE) received information that Las Gemas Convenience Store located on 3000 New Castle Avenue, New Castle, DE was selling single cigarettes. 

According to Delaware law,  it is unlawful to distribute tobacco products for commercial purposes unless the product is in a sealed package provided by the manufacturer with the required health warning and tax stamp. 

A sale of a single cigarette was confirmed by DATE who took one person into custody. 

Upon further investigation over 300 cigarette packs were located that had tax stamps also violation of the law. Along with the untaxed cigarettes DATE Agents seized $2,000.00 U.S.C. from the establishment.  The investigation is ongoing.
