The Kind  to Kids Foundation names chairperson

The Kids to Kids Foundation of Delaware announces a new board chairperson.

Scott Burris, vice president of human resources Capital One, of Wilmington, will serve as an officer and chairperson on the foundation’s board. Burris has served in several capacities at Capital One since 2006, gaining extensive experience in training seminars, talent management, and credit consulting and counseling. He holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Boston University. [Not a valid template]

Santora accountant earns CPA

Santora CPA Group announced that Sarah M. Grantham has earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License in Delaware.  She joined the firm in July 2016 and is a Staff Accountant. She is a 2010 graduate of Western University in Ontario and a 2016 graduate of Goldey-Beacom College.  Grantham is a member of the American Institute and Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants.  She also volunteers her time with the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association as Treasurer on the Board of Directors.

Delmarva Power employees honored

Exelon honored two Delmarva Power employees, John Allen and Doug Hudson, for their community volunteer work on May 23 at the company’s Energy for the Community Volunteer Awards Luncheon in Washington, D.C. During the event, Exelon also announced $10,000 in charitable contributions to each local nonprofit that the award winners support in Delaware and Maryland to amplify their hard work. 

Allen, of Seaford, a regional  vice president & manager of external affairs in Delmarva Power’s Bay Regional Office in Salisbury, Md., was recognized for his work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore.He has volunteered with the organization for 12 years, serving on the Board of Directors, establishing partnerships for the organization across the region, launching its annual golf tournament fundraiser, and conducting workshops for young men in the region.

 Hudson, of Selbyville, an engineering fieldman 1st class, was recognized for his volunteer work with the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company. Hudson is now in his third term as the president of the fire company. The fire company plans to use the charitable contribution from Exelon to purchase an automatic CPR machine.

Smith joins Coons’  staff

Hannah Smith has joined the staff of U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) as Deputy Communications Director.  

Smith previously served as Communications Director for U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) and before that, served on the staff of former U.S. Senator Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) in a variety of communications roles. She is a 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina.

Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke names nurses of the year.

Gena Hammond – Seaford Branch.  Hammond has been a registered nurse (RN) for 21 years. She earned her Associates degree in Nursing Science and Nurse Practitioner’s degree from Del Tech.

Kim Mast – Ocean Pines Branch.  Mast has over a decade of experience under her belt in the nursing field. 

Christine Yingling – Salisbury Branch. Yingling has been a registered nurse (RN) at Peninsula Home Care (PHC) for eight years and has worked in the profession for twenty years. She earned her Associate’s degree and is chemotherapy certified.

Nanticoke Health names director

Nanticoke Health Services announced that Alina Chisenhall, RN, has been named Director of the Medical Surgical Unit (MSU) at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. In this position, Chisenhall will oversee the daily operations of MSU to ensure that quality care is proved to each patient in a manner consistent with Nanticoke’s mission and values.

Chisenhall has worked on the MSU for all of her 17-year career at Nanticoke. She started as a staff nurse in July 2001, was promoted to designated charge nurse in 2003, and then was selected as MSU Manager in July 2012.

Chisenhall received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown and is currently working toward her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wilmington University.
