Delaware ranks 6th in when it comes to taxpayers getting  more bang for their buck.

Reward Expert has ranked Delaware sixth in a  report on states that offered the best and worst value for tax dollars.

Delaware ranked high on the list, thanks to its ability to provide tax relief for residents from corporate income tax revenues as well as low property taxes and no sales tax. The report was released as the personal income tax deadline looms.

Alaska  ranked first, due to revenues from its vast supply of oil.  Ranking last on the best value list was Hawaii.  North Dakota ranked second to the last, even with its vast supplies of  Bakken oil.  North Dakota has not levied Alaska-style taxes on oil.

RewardExpert,  a firm that focuses on reward programs for credit cards,  used U.S.  Census Data in its analysis.

“Taxes are a necessary and unpleasant reality. No one wishes to hand over more of their hard-earned money to the government of their state, city, county, or country than they must,” says RewardExpert CEO and co-founder Roman Shteyn. “Yet it is all too easy to overlook the fact that the federal, state and local governments use tax revenues in ways that directly or indirectly benefit the taxpayer. The best deal is not always the one that costs least. And so, we analyzed government data in order to answer the questions: where do you get the most bang for your tax buck? Where do you get the worst return on your investment in your state and local government?”

The report did not go into issues such as compensation for government employees and the uneven quality of public schools, despite heavy support from the state.
