A Maryland man, suspected of robbing a GameStop in Newark, was arrested in Maryland after a tracking advice was included in gaming equipment.
Newark Police reported that 2:43 p.m on Thursday, officers were called .to a report of a gunpoint robbery at the GameStop in the Suburban Plaza Shopping Center off Elkton Road.
Officers learned that store employees were held at gunpoint and forced to turn over money and gaming equipment.
The suspect then fled the shopping center in what was described as a green BMW sedan.
Officers also learned that a tracking device was included with the items.
With the use of city surveillance cameras, officers quickly confirmed the vehicle and a license plate number. The suspect was tracked into Perryville, MD where he was apprehended by the Maryland State Police.
Newark Police Department spokesman Lt. Gerald Bryda stated that the device helped to track down the suspect, with the tag on the car confirming the link with the hold-up.
The suspect was identified as Elvis A. Anderson of Rosedale, MD. Anderson is currently being held in the Cecil County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Delaware.
