The chain, which now has one Delaware restaurant, off Route 202 in north Wilmington dropped its lunch service and is now opening   at 4 p.m.  A new menu has also been rolled out.

Lone Star earlier closed Delaware restaurants in New Castle and Dover. The New Castle restaurant operated for a couple of decades, but had fallen victim to stiff competition and a less desirable location on DuPont Highway.

Rivals Texas Road House and Outback have typically   not offered lunch service, except on weekends or special occasions.  Two other competitors  Longhorn and Firebirds  continue to offer a limited lunch menu and more Outbacks have added lunch service.

Firebirds has grown to about 40 locations. The more upscale chain was launched  by a Longhorn founder and features a Colorado lodge theme.
