Physicians from Nemours have been providing around-the-clock care for patients on Union Hospital’s pediatrics units, consultations for children receiving treatment in the Emergency Department, and newborn consultations in the Maternal & Infant Center.

This month,  pediatric nurses from duPont Hospital for Children joined the clinical team at Union. The expansion will bring the same level of care delivered at duPont Hospital for children for families in Cecil County and neighboring areas. This collaboration is led by Nemours Associates Dr. Haytham Hamwi, who serves as Chief of Pediatrics, and Lisa Jager, who serves as Nurse Manager for Nemours duPont Pediatrics at Union Hospital.

As part of this partnership expansion, 13 Union Hospital nurses and nursing assistants moved over to  Nemours and underwent additional clinical training that included time spent working at duPont Hospital for Children near  Wilmington.

Nurses will continue to rotate through duPont Hospital for Children on a regular basis to sharpen their clinical skills and further their clinical education. Leaders from Nemours and Union worked to align clinical and administrative policies and procedures between the two organizations.
