A New York City woman has been arrested on charges of illegal transportation of alcoholic beverages.
The Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) was contacted by the Delaware State Police after a trooper stopped a rented 2015 Chrysler Town and Country passenger van on Naamans in Claymont.
The trooper reported the passenger compartment was completely filled with more than 50 cases of various brands of liquor valued at approximately $10,000.
The driver, Rosalind Vasquez, 28, purchased the alcohol at a Delaware retail liquor store before being stopped.
Vasquez was taken into custody and turned over to DATE Agents.
According to investigators, Vasquez planned to return to New York City and sell the beverages.
Agents charged Vasquez with Illegal Transportation of Alcoholic Beverages without a license. She was later released after posting a $1,000 secured bond.
Transportation of liquor and tobacco products from Maryland and Delaware is widespread, due to the taxes in the Empire State.
