The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Hagley Museum and Library will present the 5th Annual  National Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium on May 26th and 27.th

Cost is $55 a person. The location of the symposium is  Hagley Museum and Library at 298 Buck Road East, Wilmington.

The fee includes all sessions and presentations for both days, morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch on Thursday, and the networking reception Thursday evening.

The symposium will focus on women entrepreneurs and the importance of intellectual property (IP) protection to the success of innovative businesses, a release stated.

This event, according to the release  is a “unique opportunity for attendees to learn about the value of patents and trademarks, federal and local resources to help entrepreneurs start or grow businesses, strategies to leverage IP assets, and driving business growth by leveraging business relationships. It will also include networking opportunities with experts in the IP and small business growth and development fields. These experts come from both government and the private sector and will offer insight into all facets of the business cycle. “

Speakers  include:

  • Keynote Luncheon Speaker:  Aaron Krause- President and CEO Scrub Daddy, Inc., prolific inventor with over 15 patents and 20 trademarks  and “Daddy of the Scrub Daddy” the most successful product in the history of the Shark Tank
  • Mindy Bickel- associate commissioner for Innovation Development for the patent office:
  • Catherine Pace Cain- Staff Attorney, Office of the Commissioner for Trademarks, at the patent office
  • Elizabeth Lea Dougherty, director of Inventor Education, Outreach, and Recognition, Office of Innovation Development, at the patent office
