Delaware Memorial BridgeSouthbound traffic will be congested on the Delaware Memorial Bridge as  The Delaware River and Bay Authority’s  contractor, Cornell and Company, Inc., performs work. Crews are focused on replacing three suspension ropes close to each other.

Crews will close three of the four lanes on the Delaware-bound span for several days.  The traffic has been shifted to the right lane to reduce the load in the work area to maintain required structural factors of safety during this process.

At times, work will not be visible from the travel lanes.  The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph throughout the project.  Once the initial work is completed, it is expected that the single left lane will remain closed for the immediate future.

Motorists heading south on the New Jersey Turnpike or I-295 should expect significant delays and may want to seek alternate routes to reach their destination, a release suggested.
