Diamond State Bourbon will be back on February 26, three months after the initial small batch sold out in 45 minutes.
The first release of the whiskey took place on Saturday, November 14, 2015, a date which also marked the distillery’s two year anniversary. It is believed to be the first legally distilled bourbon from Delaware in modern times.
After aging for a year, the bourbon is scheduled to be taken from barrels on Thursday, February 18 and bottled on February 22. An invitation to attend the bottling was open to 10 individuals from the public who were the first to respond to a Facebook post.
Diamond State Bourbon Whiskey is distilled from a mash of 65 percent corn, 26 percent rye and 9 percent malted barley and aged for one year in 10 gallon new charred American oak barrels. Tasters have noted flavors of vanilla, toffee, oak, cinnamon and nutmeg.
The upcoming second release is expected to be close to 4 times larger then the first, totaling 600-plus bottles. It will be available for purchase on a first come rst serve basis at the distillery as well as in select retailers. The bourbon will retail for $40/bottle with a limit 6 bottles per person.
