Leadership Delaware recruits and mentors Delawareans ages 28 to 38 who have the capacity to excel at community, nonprofit, political, professionl and corporate leadership in the state. Haley was a member of the group’s advisory board. According to the organization’s newsletter: “It is with sad hearts and a strong desire to emulate his humility, strength, charisma and leadership that the Alumni Council presents this award posthumously.” Haley was a “speaker, mentor and inspiration to the Fellows of Leadership Delaware.”

In the future, the Matt Haley Leadership Award will recognize a Delaware-based individual or organization that demonstrates relevant and newly inspiring initiative-driven leadership in the community. Recipients will epitomize Haley’s ability “mobilize and unify company members, institutions or government around a common goal,” according to the newsletter.

Levin accepted the award during the graduation ceremonies for the 2015 Leadership Delaware candidates. “It was an honor to be invited to receive this award on Matt’s behalf and on behalf of all the dedicated people who work at SoDel Concepts,” he said.
