Sallie Mae chief security officer honored by peers

archerSallie Mae announced that Jerry Archer, senior vice president, and chief security officer, received the 2015 Security Advisor Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award.

Archer was nominated and selected by his peers for outstanding leadership in the cybersecurity industry. He received the award at the inaugural Security Advisor Alliance Summit held recently in Dallas.

As Sallie Mae’s chief security officer, Archer is responsible for business continuity, crisis management, and security risk management, including cyber and information security. He joined Sallie Mae in 2009 and has more than 40 years of experience at leading companies and government agencies, including Intuit, Visa, and Fidelity.

“We are honored to recognize Jerry Archer with our Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Clayton Pummill, executive director, Security Advisor Alliance. “He is a selfless leader and trailblazer and, during his highly decorated career, he has continuously driven thought leadership and had an immeasurable impact on the growth and development of our industry.”

The Security Advisor Alliance provides educational, mentoring, and networking resources for schools, nonprofit organizations, and industry professionals. Founded by information security industry leaders, the Alliance aims to leverage the collective assets of its members to promote the wellbeing of cybersecurity.
