Long, Hoover join Estuary Partnership

Jeff Long has joined the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary as a watershed outreach specialist. He works in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. There he collaborates with others to solve environmental problems using education.

Long earned his master’s degree in education from Old Dominion University and has taught in six different countries. Prior to joining the PDE he worked for the Delaware Center for Horticulture. There he managed an environmental education program for urban youth. He also helped to develop a horticulture training program for parolees.

Michelle Hoover is a program specialist at the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary. Her responsibilities include environmental education, community outreach, and events. Examples range from an environmental art contest in Philadelphia to the nonprofit’s science summit in Cape May.

Hoover earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Juniata College in May. While there she studied polluted habitats in waterways and the movements of local brown trout.

Edwards joins First State Manufacturing

First State Manufacturing announced that Deborah Edwards has joined the company in the position of Human Resources Generalist. “Ms. Edwards comes to us after a very successful time at the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce, were she grew membership to top 1000 businesses.

Her experience in dealing with the public, diverse businesses and leadership will be invaluable as she works with our expanding workforce,” said   CEO Dave Hitchens.

Chief info officer for Bayhealth

Bayhealth  announced the appointment of Jonathan Kaufmann, DO, to the position of chief medical information officer (CMIO). Kaufmann joins Bayhealth after working as the CMIO at The Queen’s Health System in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Kaufmann started out as a hospitalist at The Queen’s Health System, but then became interested in medical informatics which eventually led him to a position as a CMIO. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and completed medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Williams joins Bayhealth board

Bayhealth announced the appointment of Harry L. Williams, Ed.D, to its Board of Directors. Williams is the 10th President of Delaware State University (2010-present), having previously served as the university’s provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

During his presidential tenure, Williams has emerged as a visionary and gifted leader. He has fortified the university’s relations with Delaware’s congressional delegation, as well as state and local elected officials, helping to establish scholarship programs and strengthen state funding to expand the campus and scope of learning.

He led the formation of partnerships with institutions of higher education in the People’s Republic of China, resulting in abundant student exchanges. Under his leadership, the university has established an Early College High School, now in its second year of operation.

Wise joins Emory Hill

Emory Hill & Company announced that Fred Wise has joined the firm as a project manager.

Wise has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry including work in the industrial, commercial, government, public, transportation, residential and education industries. Prior to joining Emory Hill he worked at ARGO Systems LLC, Bancroft Construction Company and Veterans Professional Associates.

Fred is a graduate of Delaware Technical & Community College where he earned his degree in Architectural Engineering. He is also OSHA certified and has a State of Maryland Erosion and Sediment Control Certification.

UD dean on 4-H board

National 4-H Council announced  elections to its Board of Trustees.

Elected to the board was Michelle Rodgers, University of Delaware Associate Dean & Director, Cooperative Extension and Outreach.

As Associate Dean and Director, Rodgers provides overall leadership for programs, personnel and the organizational development of the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The 4-H alumna chairs the national Extension Committee of Organization and Policy (ECOP) and served as co-chair of the ECOP Health task force. Prior to the University of Delaware, she spent five years as Associate Director at Michigan State University Extension. Rodgers holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Penn State University.

Bell named associate broker

Active Adults Realty announced that Bill Bell has achieved Associate Broker status and will now be a licensed Associate Broker at Active Adults Realty in Lewes, where he is also co-owner.
