The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce’s  Gilman Bowl award went to Richard G. “Dick” Hatfield, founder and chairman of the Colonial Parking, Inc. board, on Nov. 10  at the 17th Annual Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business awards luncheon.

Hatfield accepted the award with his colleagues and fellow small business leaders in attendance.

The Gilman Bowl was established as a tribute to small business leadership. It is named in memory of Marvin S. Gilman, who served as a leader and a paragon of small business in Delaware. The identity of the winners of the Gilman Bowl was held confidential until its presentation at the awards luncheon.

A frequent lecturer at University of Delaware, Dick Hatfield started Colonial Parking, Inc. nearly 60-years ago with a single parking lot in Allentown, PA.  Hatfield oversees the regional organization that operates in the Mid-Atlantic.

Hatfield has set an excellent example for all the members of the Colonial Parking team by managing his business by applying the Golden Rule, according to a Chamber release.  The culture of Colonial Parking has been built on that simple principal of treating others as you would like to be treated. This example has lead Colonial Parking’s associates to not only deliver excellent customer service, but to be socially responsible.
