Dearlove recognized  as top woman litigator

Richards, Layton & Finger director Catherine Dearlove has been recognized by Benchmark Litigation in its 2015 edition of Top 250 Women in Litigation.

Dearlove has been named to the list of the nation’s  top women litigators for the third year in a row and is one of only three attorneys selected from Delaware. Benchmark commented that “Catherine Dearlove’s high acclaim is  consistent with that of her firm, Richards, Layton & Finger.”

Benchmark recognized  Dearlove for her successful representation of multinational corporations in high-profile corporate and fiduciary litigation in Delaware.

Dearlove also regularly advises boards of directors and board committees on corporate governance and fiduciary duty issues outside of litigation.

Hacker joins Morris James

Morris James LLP announced that R. Eric Hacker has joined the firm’s Georgetown office as an associate in its Real Estate and Business Litigation practice groups. His practice will focus on residential and commercial real estate, and commercial litigation.

Previously,  Hacker worked as a Mediator/ADR Specialist and Judicial Law Clerk for the Family Court of the State of Delaware. His experience also includes being an Appeals Referee for the Delaware Department of Labor, where he presided over 900 lower authority appeals hearings of unemployment benefits cases and researched and wrote administrative law.

Hacker graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2009 and received his B.A. cum laude from the University of North Texas. He is admitted to practice law in Delaware and Texas.

Fish & Richardson awards three Space Camp scholarships

Fish & Richardson, Wilmington,  announced  that full scholarships have been awarded to three Wilmington middle school students – Kelly Jimenez Hernandez, Brianna Kisielewski, and Sara Schneider – to attend the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp in Huntsville, AL this summer.

The goal of Fish’s Space Camp Scholarship program – which the firm has run for 17 consecutive years – is to get middle school students excited about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Fish attorneys select the scholarship winners based on a written application and an in-person interview.  Each year,

Fish sends 33 students – from economically disadvantaged areas in the 11 cities across the country where the firm has offices – along with teacher chaperones to Space Camp.

The Wilmington-area students were selected from Stanton Middle School. Fish & Richardson has an office in Wilmington.
