Tech Forum of Delaware took a moment last week to honor one of its founding members, David Freschman.

He was remembered by board Chair Rick Sommer at the organization’s Spring into Networking event held at Timothy’s on the Riverfront in Wilmington.

Tech Forum Board member  George Rotsch reported that last month’s Idea Challenge was a big success that attracted 150 people.

More importantly, inquiries continue to come in about the event that featured ad hoc teams that came up with ideas to improve the quality of life in Wilmington.

The winning entry for the second straight year was  the coIN Loft/Start It Up Delaware team’s Beacon. The idea is to place beacons , containing Internet access and information,  around downtown.

The Tech Forum holds monthly events. Next month’s meeting at the Venture Development Center at the University of Delaware, Newark, will feature student teams presenting their Hen Hatch pitches. Hen Hatch is the University of Delaware’s top business startup funding competition. The event will be held on April 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Venture Development Center serves as a learning laboratory and business hatchery for students interested in starting and growing businesses; drives innovation for established companies; and develops market-based solutions to social problems.
