WSFS names Interim executives

WSFS Financial Corporation, the parent company of WSFS Bank, announced that Rodger Levenson was named interim Chief Financial Officer.

Levenson, currently Chief Commercial Banking Officer, has served with the bank since 2006 and has over 25 years of experience in senior level leadership positions. Prior to joining WSFS, Levenson was Senior Vice President and Manager of the Specialized Banking Group at Citizens Bank.

Earlier, he spent 17 years in various commercial banking positions at Wells Fargo (via predecessor companies).

He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Delaware Bankers Association and on the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the United Way of Delaware.

Levenson will continue to lead the bank’s corporate development efforts during his interim role as Chief Financial Officer. The bank is conducting a wide search for a successor CFO.

Steve Clark, currently Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Officer will assume the role of interim Chief Commercial Banking Officer. Clark has been with WSFS since 2002 in several leadership roles; prior to 2002, he spent 23 years in various commercial banking positions at PNC Bank and its predecessor companies.

In addition to the interim leadership roles mentioned above, WSFS also announced that Paul D. Geraghty, currently Chief Wealth Officer, will assume the role of Pennsylvania Market President.

In this newly created role, Geraghty will oversee the bank’s strategic growth plan in southeastern Pennsylvania, including the integration of the recently announced acquisition of Alliance Bancorp, Inc. of Pennsylvania.

Following the merger, WSFS will have 17 locations in southeastern Pennsylvania, including 11 in Delaware County and over $1 billion in assets. Geraghty will retain his role as Chief Wealth Officer. In time, WSFS will seek a permanent replacement for the Pennsylvania Market President position.  Prior to joining WSFS Bank in 2011, Geraghty was President  and Chief Executive Officer at Harleysville National Corporation.

Johnstone named Small Business Banker

Bank of America  announced that Andrew Johnstone has been appointed Small Business Banker for Delaware and its surrounding areas.

Johnstone began his career with Bank of America in 2010 as the banking center manager for the Bracebridge Financial Center and has been leading and managing teams in sales and service for more than 20 years.

Johnstone resides in Middletown and is active within the community helping to develop financial awareness seminars for local nonprofits. He has served on the Delaware Elite Board and as board president for Thomas Edison Charter School.

Bryn Mawr Trust  adds mortgage staff

Bryn Mawr Bank Corporation, parent of The Bryn Mawr Trust Company announced the hiring of four additional mortgage banking professionals as part of a strategic initiative to expand their presence in the residential mortgage business.  The newest members of the Bryn Mawr Trust’s Mortgage Department have a combined work experience of more than 75 years.

The new team members are:

Thomas S. Forker, Vice President, has management responsibility for Bryn Mawr Trust’s residential mortgage sales team.  He has twenty six years’ experience with expertise in sales, training and regulatory compliance. He was most recently with Firstrust Bank, and has also managed residential mortgage programs at other Philadelphia area banks including; Harleysville National Bank, Citizens Bank and Commonwealth Bank.

 

Cathy Young, Vice President, is an experienced mortgage professional and a recipient of the Five Star Mortgage Professional Award from 2011 to 2014.The Award recognizes mortgage professionals who score the highest ratings in overall customer satisfaction. She has over 17 years’ experience and was, for the past 13 ½ years, at First Niagara Bank. She is an affiliate member of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors.

Andrew J. Krider, Vice President, excels in developing long-lasting client relationships as a result of his commitment to providing superior client service and satisfaction.

He has more than 17 years of mortgage banking experience and he has been a sales leader throughout his career. He is an affiliate member of the Suburban West Realtor Association and Home Builders Association of Chester and Delaware Counties. He is an active member of the community and a serves on the Boards of several community non-profit organizations.

Anne Stulpin, Vice President, has over 17 years of mortgage banking experience and has been a top producer throughout her career.  She was most recently with Citizens Bank, Norristown, PA and has worked at other local financial institutions including Superior Mortgage Corp., National City Mortgage. Gateway Funding and TBI Mortgage.

Meconi new COO for  DRBA

Delaware River and Bay Authority officials announced the selection of Vincent P. Meconi of Wilmington,  as the agency’s new Chief Operations Officer (COO).   Meconi officially began his duties on March 16, 2015.

In the role of COO, Meconi will be responsible for directing and coordinating operational activities at the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, the Forts Ferry Crossing, five regional airports, police, engineering and environmental compliance and safety.

Meconi has more than 25 years of public sector managerial experience, including serving as the Secretary for the Department of Administrative Services and Secretary for the Department of Health and Social Services for the State of Delaware.

Prior to joining the bi-state agency, he served as the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for New Castle County where he was the lead budget strategist for the county’s $250 million operating budget and lead negotiator for collective bargaining with the County’s seven employee unions.

In the early 1980s, Meconi was elected to Delaware’s General Assembly for a term as a State Representative for the 21st District.

An Adjunct Professor at Delaware Technical and Community College where he teaches political science,  Meconi has also authored “A Practical Guide to Government Management,” a comprehensive manual to running government agencies.

Brickhouse to become provost at St. Louis University 

Nancy Brickhouse, deputy provost for academic affairs at the University of Delaware, will become provost at Saint Louis University in Missouri. She will assume her post as SLU’s chief academic officer on July 1.

She has held several leadership roles, including interim provost, for which she received special recognition from the Board of Trustees for her exemplary service; deputy dean of the College of Education and Human Development; and director of the School of Education.

Two named to racing group

Two Delaware racing officials have been named chairman and secretary of the Organization of Racing Investigators, which represents racetracks, regulatory agencies and law enforcement involved in upholding the integrity of horse racing.

Serving as chairman for the 2015-2016 term will be John F. Wayne, executive director of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission, while DTRC Inspector Francis J. Swift will serve as ORI secretary. Delaware Park will host the next ORI annual conference in March 2016.

Bayhealth  welcomes Morris

Bayhealth Gastroenterology welcomed Carol J. Morris, DO. The practice is now accepting new patients.

Fellowship trained in gastroenterology and hepatology, Morris’ primary interests include colorectal cancer screening, non-surgical hemorrhoid treatments and hepatology – a branch of medicine concerned with diseases that affect the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree, and pancreas.

Morris earned her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

She continued her training by completing a residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Fla.

She went on to complete a fellowship in hepatology at University of Miami, Miami, Fla., and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Morris certified by the American Board in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Most recently, Morris worked in emergency medicine at Veterans Hospital Administration in Miami, Fla., and as a gastroenterologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Richardson joins Convention & Visitors Bureau

Dee Richardson has joined the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau as a Visitor Counselor.

She will be responsible for assisting visitors, members and other walk-in guests with visitor related requests and membership information.

Richardson will also be responsible for monitoring and updating the Bureau’s TripAdvisor presence.

Board changes at Beebe

The Board of Directors of Beebe Healthcare has added new members, while seven are retiring. The seven members who retired had 101 total combined years of experience on the Board.

New Board members are:

Gregory A. Bahtiarian, the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Mid-Atlantic Family Practice.

James W. Bartle, who served as Beebe’s vice president/chief financial officer from 1988 to 2012.

R. Michael Clemmer, a former executive director of the Beebe Medical Foundation and president of the Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary

Thomas J. Cooper, president of Cooper Realty Associates and former chairman of the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.

Frank Czerwinski, president and owner of Cerwin Holdings Inc. and a partner in the real estate development firm Eastern Associates.

Terry A. Megee, president of Floyd A. Megee Motor Company in Georgetown and a former Indian River School Board member.

Wesley E. Perkins, president of Wesmar Associates.

There were no changes to the Board officers who are: Judge Lee, Chair; Jacquelyn O. Wilson, EdD, Vice Chair; Jeffrey M. Fried, FACHE, President and CEO of Beebe Healthcare and Board Secretary; and Paul T. Cowan, Jr., DO, Chief of Emergency Services at Beebe Healthcare and Board Treasurer.

Procino joins Sperry Van Ness

Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate in Salisbury, MD is announced that Michael Procino has joined the SVN-Miller team as an Advisor. Procino will be working out of the satellite Seaford, DE office with SVN-Miller Senior Advisor Tom Knopp.

Prior to joining SVN-Miller, he served as a Broker/Agent at Home Team Realty in Seaford, DE for 10 years.

He has also been a valuable part of his family manufacturing business supporting the restaurant industry for over 32 years. Procino is an active member of the National Association of Realtors and the Sussex County Association of Realtors.

Sawchak joins realty firm

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors Newark Office, welcomed Doreen Sawchak as a Sales Associate. Sawchak is a member of the New Castle County Board of Realtors.
