MDavis buys the former Chrome Deposit building south of Newark

Chrome depositMDavis has announced the purchase of a new fabrication facility located on Tyler Way in an industrial park south of Newark.

The new shop more than doubles M Davis’ current capacity and will help make the manufacturing process of skids, tanks and structural steel more efficient and cost effective, the company stated.

John Bonk, president of MDavis, stated that the new shop “will allow us to produce larger products in a shorter amount of time better servicing our customers as we continue to ship our products globally.”

The Tyler Way  shop is already in operation. The company also has  a steel and panel shop at  Hadco Road, Elsmere and a stainless steel shop at B&O Lane, Wilmington  at 6,000 square feet. The Tyler Way shop has 20,000 square feet.

Total employment  at the company is 325.

CEO Peggy Del Fabbro recently stated that “shortly after opening the non-ferrous shop we realized we were going to need even more fabrication space“. The new facility comes with higher ceilings, three twenty ton overhead cranes with 24 feet under the hook height and wider doors allowing for easier material handling during the fabrication process.

The modern building was the home of Chrome Deposit Corp., which closed the Newark-area site several years ago.

MDavis is a fifth generation woman-owned industrial contractor and fabricator headquartered in Wilmington.

The company serves customers in the oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, beverage and industrial markets. The company’s website is www.mdavisinc.com.

MDavis is one of Delaware’s oldest companies. It was founded in 1870 as a tinsmith shop.
