Cutrona named relationship manager

M&T Bank has announced the appointment of Michael J. Cutrona as Business Banking Relationship Manager for New Castle County. He is responsible for providing traditional financial services and customized product solutions to business clients in the greater New Castle County area.

Cutrona joins M&T with over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently he worked at Wells Fargo Bank. Previously, he held positions at Citizens Bank. He earned a BS in Marketing Management from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington.

In his new role, Cutrona will be responsible for expanding M&T’s commercial and business banking reach, as well as supporting local businesses’ lending needs.

Cutrona is an active member of The Committee of 100, a business organization committed to supporting the state of Delaware’s economic health and development. In addition, Cutrona serves on the Commercial-Industrial Realty Council of New Castle County, Delaware, a non-profit organization focused on the transactional needs of commercial and industrial real estate companies in the community.

Paradee named equity partner at law firm

Baird Mandalas Brockstedt, LLC, is pleased to announce the addition of John W. Paradee, Esquire, as an equity partner of the firm.

Paradee is a seasoned attorney who comes to the firm with an established practice focused on commercial litigation, commercial and residential real estate transactions, general business and corporate practice, and administrative law.

Paradee is a graduate of the University of Virginia and earned his law degree from the University of Richmond.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association of Justice, the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association and the Terry/Carey Inn of Court.

Although Paradee will be based in the firm’s Dover office, he will also spend time in the firm’s Lewes location and handle cases throughout the state.

Haines joins Doherty & Associates

Jeffery L. Haines, CPA has joined the Wilmington office of Doherty & Associates, Inc. as Senior Tax & Operations Manager. Haines is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he attended under a Foster Furculo scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Haines is a former partner with the Woodbury NJ CPA firm of Sorelle & Associates, PC and owner of JAS Consulting Services in South Jersey.  He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of American Institute of CPA’s and New Jersey Society of CPA’s.

He brings over 20 years of public accounting experience providing quality tax and consulting services to the firm.  His experience has been focused on providing tax preparation, planning and representation services to a wide variety of individuals and small to mid-size private companies.  He also brings a specialization in inheritance and estate taxation planning, reporting and representation matters to the firm.

Leto, Murdoch take CEO and chairman’s role at Bryn Mawr

Bryn Mawr Bank Corporation (parent of The Bryn Mawr Trust Company,  reported that Francis J. Leto and Britton H. Murdoch have assumed their new leadership roles as Chief Executive Officer  and Chairman of the Board of Directors, respectively as of January 1, 2015. These elections complete the final steps in the Corporation’s CEO succession plan, announced April 25, 2014, to replace Ted Peters, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer who retired on December 31.

Attorneys joins Morris Nichols

Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP  announced seven attorneys have joined the firm as part of the 2014 Fall Associate Class.

Emily B. Hagan joins the Delaware Corporate Counseling group.  Hagan earned her J.D. (2014) from Duke University School of Law; and B.A. (2010), Phi Beta Kappa in English and political science, with a minor in Spanish from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Shaun Michael Kelly joins the Corporate & Business Litigation group.  Prior to joining Morris Nichols, Kelly served as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Randy J. Holland of the Delaware Supreme Court.  He received his J.D. (2013) cum laude from Notre Dame University Law School; and B.A. (2010) political science from Swarthmore College.

Matthew R. Koch joins the Business Reorganization & Restructuring group.  Koch received his J.D. (2014) from Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University; and H.B.A. (2011) in political science with a minor in economics from the University of Delaware.

Richard J.W. Li joins the Corporate & Business Litigation group. Li earned his J.D. (2014) from the New York University School of Law; and B.A. (2011) in English literature and mathematics from Swarthmore College.

J. Matthew O’Hare joins the Commercial Law Counseling group.  O’Hare earned his J.D. (2014) from the University of Michigan Law School; and M.B.A. (2009) and B.S. (2004) in business, with a minor criminology from the University of Maryland.

Zi-Xiang Shen joins the Corporate & Business Litigation group.  Shen received her J.D. (2014) from Duke University School of Law; M.P.P. (2009) from the University of Chicago; and B.A. (2006) in English with a minor in public health from George Washington University.

Thomas P. Will joins the Corporate & Business Litigation group.  Will received his J.D. (2014) from the University of North Carolina School of Law; and B.A. (2010) in political science from the University of North Carolina.

Morris Nichols combines a national practice of corporate, intellectual property, business reorganization and restructuring, commercial law and litigation with a general business, tax, estate planning and real estate practice within the State of Delaware.

Head Start elects officers

New Castle County Head Start, Inc. (NCCHS) Board of Directors held new officer elections and recognized outgoing members.

The new officers are J.D. Lee, chairperson; Leslie Lee, vice chairperson; Michael Mood, treasurer; and Faith Mwaura, Secretary. Officers are elected for a one year term beginning December 2, 2014.

Chairperson J.D. Lee has served six years on the NCCHS Board of Directors as Secretary, Vice Chairperson and as Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. Lee designs machinery for the healthcare industry. He serves as President & CCO of TGS, an engineering company; CFO of LDW, a property management company and is former President of BVM Maintenance Corporation.

Vice Chairperson Leslie Lee has served over 12 years on the board in numerous leadership roles including Secretary and Chairperson. Lee has over thirty years of professional experience in energy assistance to low income households and retired as a Management Analyst for the State of Delaware.

The Board of Directors recognized outgoing members Chairperson Randy Roberts, Phyllis Barnes and Eric DeFeo for their time and service to the agency.

Former Chairperson Randy Roberts completed two consecutive three year terms, serving as chairperson since 2011.

During his tenure as chairperson, Roberts minimized impacts to the agency during funding cutbacks from the federal sequestration, oversaw a favorable Federal Monitoring Review where NCCHS classroom quality scores were at or above the highest 10% of scores for all national Head Start grantees in 2013 and established the first Board of Directors self evaluation process.

Phyllis Barnes completed two consecutive three year terms on the board where she served as chair of the Community Awareness and Advocacy committee. Eric DeFeo has served on the board since June 2013.

Gallucci named head of First State Military Academy

The First State Military Academy (FSMA) announced that Patrick R. Gallucci has been named the Commandant of the new tuition-free public charter high school, in Clayton, DE, that is set to open Fall 2015 Gallucci has spent his career in education Gallucci has been an educator since August 1994 and in the Delaware school system since 1996.  He spent the last seven years with high school students.

He taught in the Caesar Rodney School District and most recently, is served as an administrator in the Polytech School District.

His experience in administration and teaching will bring the much-needed organizational development and management to the new Academy.

The Commandant comes with a welcomed and diverse background of assignments in education to include:  Transportation Supervisor, Athletic Director, Safety and Security Coordinator, Health and Physical Educator, and Technology Coordinator.

He served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1985 to 1989.   The First State Military Academy will implement a comprehensive Grade 9-12 Marine JROTC program that  provide cadets with an understanding of the obligations of citizenship and self-discipline.

The Academy is a tuition-free public charter high school, located on a 35-acre campus at 355 W. Duck Creek Road.

The academy will be the first combination of Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) and New Tech Network instructional design in the country.

AB+C art director

Jonathan Mather, ab+c Creative Intelligence’s newest senior art director joined the agency’s Philadelphia office.

During his ten years in the advertising industry, he has worked on diverse campaigns including casino accounts and soft drinks.

A graduate of the Philadelphia Art Institute, Mather holds a BA in graphic design.
