Javier Acuna has been named Restauranteur of the year by the Delaware Restaurant Association.
Acuna heads the Hakuna Hospitality Group which started out on Main Street Newark with The Santa Fe Grill and has gone on to add another seafood-focused restaurant, Del Pez on Main Street, a Santa Fe in Wilmington, quick service (taqueria) restaurant at the Wilmington Riverfront and a store in Newark that serves the Latino community.
The award honors the restaurant owner or group who shows originality, quality and service to customers and has shown success, as well as involvement in the community as a member of the association.
