DCA 2014 AwardEmory Hill & Company won the 2014 Delaware Contractors Association Construction Excellence Award for the Juvenile Multi-Purpose Facility at Ferris School near Wilmington.

Dennis Groom, director of Facilities Management for the State of Delaware, and DCA President Mike Berardi presented the award to Emory Hill Superintendent Frank Tier at the DCA Annual Dinner.

The state-of-the-art building, which sits on the agency’s administrative campus  at 1825 Faulkland Road, was designed to be the new educational home for youth who are committed to the Department’s Level IV Residential Cottages. The department chose to provide rehabilitation and educational courses using the newest technologies in an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound facility. To carry this out they elected to construct a LEED  Certified “Green Building” using the latest environmentally progressive products on the market today, according to a release.

The facility is a 13,135 square foot residential and commercial style building featuring  multipurpose meeting rooms that house flexible learning and meeting environments including classrooms, a large meeting room for speakers and presentations, several multi-purpose meeting rooms for family therapy, group meetings, skill-based recreation and staff training, a library and media center, technology center and dining room. The Juvenile Multi-Purpose Facility on the Ferris Campus is currently being considered for LEED  Silver or Gold certification.
