State Sen. Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View, discusses his efforts to reverse what he sees is an unfriendly attitude toward business in the state by governor.

The businessman-legislator says he would not have been able to start his businesses in the current environment, adding that efforts by the Markell administration to cut red tape have failed.

Republicans, who are in the minority in both houses in Delaware, have worked to hammer home the theme that Delaware is lagging behind the nation in economic growth, due to the policies of Democrats.

Democrats have pointed to job growth that is running ahead of the national rate and point to various rankings that show Delaware to be business friendly in many areas.
